CEDAR FALLS - Arthur H. Carmichael Jr., 81, of Pharr, Texas, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, in Cedar Falls.

He was born Nov. 14, 1930, in Cheyenne, Wyo., son of Arthur H. Carmichael Sr. and Arlynn Doris Rumble. He married Shirley M. Swanson on Aug. 27, 1950, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School and was a supervisor at John Deere for 21 years, retiring in 1993. Mr. Carmichael was a member of John Deere Supervisors Club, Goldwing Road Riders Association and the Sno Hawks Snowmobile Club.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Steve (Valerie) of Corbin, Ky., Jeff (Tamy) of Wichita, Kan., and Michael (Shelly) of Kewaunee, Wis.; a daughter, Teri (Greg) Austin of Eden Prairie, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, Justin, Marc, Josh, Kerry, Tyler, Benny, Shea, Maddie, Parker and Ryan; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Chris) of Unionville, Mo., and Dave (Sally) of Tripoli; and three sisters, June Ceaglske, Nancy (Kim) Dutler and Jean Haes, all of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a sister, Anne Melick; and a nephew, Jason Carmichael.

Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. He donated his body to the Mayo Clinic Department of Anatomy Donor Program. A memorial service also is planned for Saturday, March 3, at Tropic Star Park in Pharr, Texas.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
