WATERLOO - John Edward Martin, 68, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 11, at Allen Hospital after a long illness.

He was born Aug. 18, 1943, in Waterloo, son of Fred "Fritz" and Eleanor Frahm Martin. He married Jane Hinz-Patchin Nov. 30, 1991, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1962. Mr. Martin was employed with John Deere in the foundry for 38 years, retiring in 1991. He was an active member of the Eagles, and a lifetime member of White Tails Unlimited.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Robyn Rager of Waterloo and Charla (Matt) Byram of Waverly; four grandchildren, Zachary Duran of Waterloo, Chelsie Thompson and Trevor Byram of Waverly, and Tim Byram of Vail, Colo.; a great-granddaughter, Lanae' Duran of Waterloo; a brother, Jim (Shari) Martin of Cordova, Ill.; and his beloved dog, Lucy.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial in Garden of Memories. Public visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, and will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

John enjoyed various outdoor activities such as bow hunting, fishing, spending time at his trailer in Minnesota, gardening, and Nascar. John especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren.
