WATERLOO - Lois Jean Hein Papavero, 75, of Yorba Linda, Calif., formerly of Waterloo, died Dec. 27, 2011, at Evergreen Hospice Center in Yorba Linda of lymphoma/leukemia.

She was born Nov. 22, 1936, daughter of John and Ana Elizabeth Heinze Hein. She married Vern Platte in 1958 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bennington Township. They later divorced. She married Attilio "Tony" Papavero in September 1964. He preceded her in death.

She graduated from Dunkerton Public Schools in 1954 and attended Wartburg College for two years. She taught elementary school in Wayzata, Minn., and Janesville and was a consultant at Fairhaven Memorial Park in California for 15 years. She also was employed at Century 21 Realty for 16 years until retirement.

Survived by a son, Paul Papavero; a daughter, Andrea Papavero; a stepson, Jerry Papavero; a stepdaughter, Beth Petermann; two sisters, Geraldine "Gerre" Claney of Waterloo and Mary Lou (John) Hazeltine of Phoenix; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial Services were held Jan. 4 at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, Calif.

She eagerly looked forward to her trips back to Iowa to visit many friends and relatives.
