CEDAR FALLS - Darlene Ella Louise Cannon, 85, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

She was born June 16, 1926, in St. Anthony, daughter of Albert and Gertrude Mayer Koch. She married James Ray Cannon on March 2, 1946, in St. Anthony. He died Feb. 17, 2010.

She graduated from St. Anthony High School and from State College of Iowa (University of Northern Iowa). She taught for 29 years, retiring in 1987 from North Cedar Elementary School in Cedar Falls. She was a member of Tuesday Club, the Association of Childhood Education, American Business Women's Association and First Christian Church.

Survived by three daughters, Cathy (Phil) Petersen of Chula Vista, Calif., Cheri (Gary) Williams of Kansas City, Mo., and Susie (Don) Christensen of Sergeant Bluff; six grandchildren, Laura (Chris) Reich, Adam (Kristen) Cannon, Nic Bartels, Shelby Bartels, Alisa Christensen and Eric Christensen; three great-grandchildren, David Reich, Kate Cannon and Matt Cannon; and a brother, Don Koch of Glenville, Minn.

Preceded in death by a son, Douglas; a brother, Kenneth Koch; and a sister, Shirley Gallentine.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or Western Home Communities.
