WATERLOO - Richard R. Parsons, 76, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Feb. 5, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Nov. 10, 1935, in Waterloo, son of Leon and Luella Slight Parsons. He married Norma Lane on April 4, 1959, in Cedar Falls. She died May 18, 2000.

He attended Waterloo West High School. Mr. Parsons was a repairman at John Deere & Co. in Waterloo for 32 years, retiring in 1989.

Survived by a son, Steven of Newton; two daughters, Diane (Duane) Jenson of Waverly and Cynthia of Waterloo; a grandson, Aaron Parsons of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son, Brian; six brothers; and two sisters.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, Waterloo, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation will be held for an hour before services Wednesday at the chapel. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

He loved to spend time with his grandson, Aaron, and enjoyed reading, watching classic movies and going on walks.
