WATERLOO - Genevieve "Gen" Wickham, 99, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at Rosewood Estates.

She was born Jan. 14, 1913, in Fort Wayne, Ind., daughter of David and Blanche Rice Stratton. She married James W. "Jay" Wickham Jr. on Oct. 3, 1944, in Fort Wayne. He died Sept. 3, 2008.

Mrs. Wickham graduated from South Side High School in Fort Wayne. She was employed as an X-ray technician and worked as a seamstress for a local furrier. She was active in bowling, ceramics and spent many years swimming at the YWCA. She was a creative seamstress making clothing and quilts for family and friends. She was outrageously delightful and fun. She was never boring and was ready to go anywhere and party at the drop of a hat! Gen was the inspiration for her grandsons' rock band "Genevieve's New Hip." Grandsons Jamie and Mark Birkett (Meredith) and Aaron Wickham (Keri Kopriva) are the musicians while the "groupies" are granddaughters Myriah Bradley, Listy (Rob) Forbes and tons of cousins and friends. She and her husband spent an active retirement traveling and riding their bikes.

Survived by two daughters, Rose Ann (Alan Main) Birkett of Peosta and Carol Lyn Wickham of Cedar Falls; a son, Terry Morrolf of Fort Wayne; a brother, David Stratton of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by three sisters, Maxine Prange, Helen Yerrick and Marjorie Druley; a brother, Gene Stratton; a son-in-law, James Birkett; and a daughter-in-law Laurel Morrolf.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home on West Ridgeway and continue for an hour before services Saturday.
