Florence E. Friis, 88, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Janesville, Iowa died Saturday, December 03, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

Florence was born on December 30, 1916, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Ida Mae (Banfield) Lantz. She attended school in Janesville, graduating from Janesville High School in 1936. Following school, Florence worked at a restaurant in Waverly. On December 9, 1938,
Florence was united in marriage to Roger Friis at their home in Cedar Falls. The couple made their home in Cedar Falls and later moved to Janesville where they raised their family. Roger died on January 13, 1996. Florence continued to live in her home until moving to the Western Home in 2002.

Florence was a member of the Janesville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, watching her Humming birds and Red cardinals, crocheting, growing African Violets, fishing and traveling.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Barbara Henze of Shell Rock; son-in-law, Harold Hinz of Denver; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Saunders of Cedar Falls, Geneva Till of Spring Hill, Florida; and by one brother, Charles Lantz of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger in 1996; one daughter, Joyce Hinz on November 24, 2005; one son-in-law, Jim Henze June 1, 1998; two sisters, Lucille Whitney and Irene Phelps; and by three brothers, Dan, Don and Howard “Curly” Lantz.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at 1:30 P.M. at the Janesville United Methodist Church with Pastor Kerrin Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery, rural Cedar Falls. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and for an hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
