Virgil R. Jenn, 74, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Wednesday evening, December 7, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls from complications of Anemia and Respiratory Failure.

Virgil was born on March 11, 1931, in Ionia, Iowa, the son of Frank and Letha (Buchnell) Jenn. Virgil attended school in Ionia at St. Baniface until he graduated from the 12th grade. Following graduation, Virgil entered the U.S. Marine Corps on March 4, 1952, and served during the Korean Conflict as an aircraft engine mechanic. Virgil was honorably discharged on February 25, 1954. After the service, he had a milk route in Ionia and then worked for Rausch Brothers driving a dump truck. Virgil then went to work for Schultz Manufacturing for a few years.

On June 26, 1970, Virgil was united in marriage to Joyce M. (Davis) Newville in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The couple made their home in Cedar Falls where Virgil worked for Waterloo Industries for 28 years, retiring in 1994.

Virgil was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. He enjoyed working with farm tractors and antique tractors, working on any small engine motors and spending time with his family.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Joyce of Cedar Falls; one step-son, Rick Newville and his wife, Betty of Cedar Falls; two step-daughters, Sue Jones and her husband, Jim of Shell Rock and Carol Feit and her husband, Bob of Milwaukee; 5 step-grandchildren; Michael Newville, David Newville, Marcus Smoot, J.R. Newville, Pete Smoot and his wife, Shannon; two great grandchildren, Candice Marie Smoot and Ian Michael Smoot; one sister, Elaine Krull and her husband, Larry of Rochester, Minnesota; three brothers, Raymond Jenn and his wife, Mary Belle of Waterloo, Norbert Jenn of Ionia, Donald Jenn of Redding, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-son, Gary Newville; and two brothers, Ralph and Vern Jenn.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, with Rev. James Starbuck presiding. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo, with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post #176 of Waverly. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, and also for an hour before services on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
