Dorothy L. Schroedermeier, 82, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Sunday morning, December 11, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

She was born on January 31, 1923 in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Anna (Dickman) Schroedermeier. She attended country school near Waverly and graduated from the Waverly High School in 1941. Dorothy then began teaching country school in Bremer County and taught for the next seven and a half years. She then moved to Waterloo where she worked as a secretary for the Studebaker Dealership. During this time Dorothy continued her education by attending Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and Wartburg College in Waverly. She left the dealership and began teaching in the Waterloo School System, and retired in 1984 after 22 and a half years of service. She continued to make her home in Waterloo until 1991 when she moved to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home where she had since lived. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and playing cards. But her greatest enjoyment came from teaching.

She is survived by one brother and his wife, Jerry and Jeanette Schroedermeier of Dunkerton, and by 14 nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ray Schroedermeier, and two sisters, June McNellis and Fay Tonn.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, Cedar Falls, with burial in the Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the Lutheran Home Chapel in Cedar Falls for one hour prior to the services.
