WATERLOO - Ronald "Ron" Heckenlively, 68, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 28, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer.

He was born Feb. 27, 1943, in Waterloo, son of Gideon and Florence Moots Heckenlively. He married Jeanne Kaye Skinner July 11, 1966, in Freeport, Ill.

He was a maintenance welder for John Deere, retiring in 2003 after 29 1/2 years. Mr. Heckenlively served in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Veronica (Jim Greenhalgh) Tangeri of Waterloo; two sons, Rob (Teresa) of Osceola, Mo., and Mike (Lisa) of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Holdt and Kaj Heckenlively, Brady Heckenlively, Jessica (Taylor) Hahn, and Brittney Tangeri and Daniel Tangeri; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Emma Tangeri; and his mother-in-law, Betty Skinner of Jesup.

Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Don, Richard and Ray; two sisters, Nannette and Pauline Wilson; and his father-in-law, Birthel "Gene" Skinner.

Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home. Family committal service will be held at a later date following cremation.
