CEDAR FALLS - Fern Rhey Bernard Mixdorf, 93, of NewAldaya Lifescapes, died Saturday, Jan. 21, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

She was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Waterloo, daughter of Harley and Mary Thompson Barnard. She married Forrest G. Mixdorf in 1945.

Mrs. Mixdorf graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1937. She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar No. 30 Odd Fellows Lodge and Happy Thought Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star, Masons and Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Survived by her husband; a son, Glen of Everett, Wash.; a daughter, Nancy Mixdorf of Davenport; a granddaughter, Stacey Mixdorf of Columbus, Ohio; and a brother, Francis (Mary) Barnard of McMinville, Ore.

Preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Mixdorf; and a brother, Maurice Barnard.

Services were at 11 a.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo. Private burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1301 Kimball Ave., Waterloo 50702.

Fern devoted her life to caring for her husband and children as a homemaker. She was a great cook who is remembered for her cinnamon rolls and desserts. She also enjoyed fishing, ice skating and crocheting, and she had a good sense of humor.
