Clara R. Schwantes died Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at her home in Hudson, Iowa.

She was born June 28, 1918, in Dunkerton, Iowa, the daughter of August P. and Anna Marie (Jensen) Miller.

Clara was united in marriage to William F. Schwantes on July 28, 1940, in Independence, Iowa. She worked in her home as a homemaker throughout her adult life, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith Jeffries of Hudson, Iowa; two sons, Ronald Schwantes of Finchford, Iowa; and Rev. Harold (Darlene) Schwantes of Shelby, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; seven brothers, Lee, Charles, William, Erick, August, Howard and Henry Miller; four sisters, Minnie, Evalyne, Adah, and Anna; and a son-in-law, Kirk Jeffries.
