TANNREUTHER, KOUGH, CARTER, KLINGAMAN

WATERLOO - Robert "Bob" Tannreuther, 87, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Jan. 22, at Rosewood Estate of Friendship Village of renal failure.

He was born June 25, 1924, in Waterloo, son of Orville and Reba Kough Tannreuther. He married Charlotte L. Carter on Sept. 16, 1949, in Waukee.

Mr. Tannreuther graduated from Orange High School in 1942 and attended McPherson College in Kansas. He farmed his family's heritage farm in Orange Township his entire life. He was a member of South Waterloo Church of the Brethren, served on the Orange Cemetery Association and was a member of Black Hawk County 4-H Fair Board.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Ann Tannreuther of Waterloo; two brothers-in-law, Dick Klingaman of Waterloo and Bernie Carter of Brainerd, Minn.; three cousins, Bill Tanruther, and Ralph and Max Kough; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Tannreuther; a son, Bill; a daughter-in-law, Liz Tannreuther; a sister, Jean Klingaman; and two brothers-in-law, Willard and Herb Carter.

Services: noon Thursday at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren, with burial in Orange Township Cemetery. A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Locke Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Bob was considered a local historian for the vast amount of knowledge he shared about the township.
