WATERLOO - Marilyn Kathryn Corkery, 72, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Jan. 22, at Allen Hospital following a sudden illness.

She was born March 29, 1939, in Eagle Center, daughter of Edward and Alma Gill Werner. She married Edward James Corkery on Oct. 2, 1961, in Eagle Center.

Mrs. Corkery graduated from Don Bosco High School in 1952. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 33 years and also served as the secretary to the Episcopal vicar, Monsignor W. Dean Walz. She also was a volunteer bookkeeper for St. Vincent de Paul.

Survived by her husband; four sons, Lowell (Cynthia), Craig and Charlie, all of Waterloo, and Shawn (Corrine) of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Sue Corkery of Yankton, S.D.; three grandchildren, Cole, Evan and Camille; a brother, Deane Werner of La Porte City; and a sister-in-law, Alice Werner of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Erin; two sisters, Donna Hilmer and Dorothy Schmidt; a brother, Caryl; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Werner.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to St. Vincent de Paul Society or Cedar Valley Hospice.
