CEDAR FALLS - Darlene Obadal, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 21, at Bickford Cottages.

She was born May 11, 1932, in Waterloo, daughter of Arthur C. and Sadie B. Epland Adams. She married Richard Obadal on June 18, 1955, in Waterloo.

Mrs. Obadal graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1950 and later Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in 1954. She taught high school English in Sumner, Alexandria, Va., and later at Waterloo West High School for 20 years. She was past president and secretary of the American Association of University Women, Cedar Falls.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Steve and Todd; a brother, Don of Wenonah, N.J.; a sister, Janice Walentine of Encinitas, Calif.; a grandson, Alex; and three nieces and four nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joan Adams; and a sister-in-law, Edith Adams.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, where visitation begins at 11 a.m., with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Association of Iowa.

Darlene especially enjoyed vacation travel, flower gardening, candid photography and visiting relatives.
