WATERLOO - Myrle M. Lowe Norris, 74, formerly of 225 W. Ridgeway Ave., died Wednesday (Oct. 4, 2000) at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, of complications of arthritis.

She was born Oct. 9, 1924, in Des Moines, daughter of Frank E. and Mabel Bellows Smith. She married Harley T. Lowe on Feb. 20, 1942, in Mason City, and he preceded her in death. She married Marion E. "Joe" Norris on May 6, 1966, in Waterloo, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1997.

Myrle was employed for 18 years at Rada Manufacturing in Waverly in the shipping and handling department, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Legion of Mary.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith Loeckle, of Osage and Lynda Meeker, of Parkersburg; two brothers, Richard Smith, of Iowa Falls and Tony Smith, of Des Moines; three sisters, Vivian Monson, of Algona, Mildred Smith, of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Linda Kuhn, of Antioch, Ill.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Rosalie Smith; two brothers, Leslie and Vernon Smith; one sister, Virginia Hisel; one stepbrother, Frank Roethler; and a granddaughter, Susan Marie Loeckle.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edwards Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, 3146 Kimball Ave., with a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorials may be directed to St. Edwards Catholic Church or Faith Lutheran Nursing Home in her memory.
