Cedar Falls-Frederick Hogenkamp, 84, of Cedar Falls, died December 5th at home. He was born July 8, 1922, in Colorado, son of Andrew and Carrie Teagarden Hogenkamp.

He was united in marriage to Esther Stork, on September 14, 1952, in New Hartford, by the Reverend Clayton Becker. He moved from Boulder, Co., when he was 6 years old to rural Parkersburg, IA. He served in the Army in Korea.

Fred was primarily a farmer until 1968, when he moved to Cedar Falls and was employed as an Industrial trucker at Viking Pump and became well known as "Freddie the Freeloader", retiring in 1987 after 21 years. He was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church, also a 50 yr member of Black Hawk Lodge #65 A.F. and A.M. Fred was passionate about fireworks. He was a member of the Pyrotechnics Guild International, making sure he attended the convention each year if his health permitted. With the help of his children and sons-in-law, even learned to build some himself. His favorite flowers were roses, especially red roses, which he grew in abundance. He was also an avid fisherman.

Fred is survived by his wife Esther; two sons, Jerry Hogenkamp of Raytown, MO., Dennis (Shirley) Hogenkamp of Leawood, KS., three daughters, Marcia (Bob) Bellman of Waverly, IA., Johnna (Bruce) Bandle of Lenexa, KS., Denise (Tom) Price of Overland Park, KS.; two granddaughters, Danielle Bellman of Waverly, IA and Bailey Jacqueline Hogenkamp Bandle of Lenexa, KS.; and a brother, Andrew of Shell Rock.

He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; an older brother and sister; and his precious grandson Derek Bellman who was killed in Sept. 1995 as a result of a Safety City Accident.

His body has been gifted to University of Iowa School of Medicine, Department of Anatomy.
Memorials to St. Timothy Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Timothy's United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home where there will be a 7:00 p.m. public Masonic Service.
