WATERLOO - David Allan Shannon, 59, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 4, 1952, in Waterloo, son of Harvey and Nancy Smith Shannon. He married Karen Mishler on June 5, 1970, in Waterloo, and they later divorced.

Mr. Shannon served in the U.S. Army and was employed as a cab driver with Cedar Valley Cab.

Survived by a son, Bryan (Kristi) of Waverly; a daughter, Annette (Scot) Pownell of Madison, Wis.; four grandchildren, Spenser and Aiden Pownell and Sara and Alyssa Shannon; a sister, Joyce Shannon of Waterloo; a niece, Heather (Kevin) Smith of Waterloo; three great-nieces, Bronwyn, Lauren and Elizabeth Smith; and two great-nephews, Benjamin and Kai Smith.

Preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Larry.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial at a later date. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.
