Donald E. Wallace, son of Albert and Mary Kern Wallace, was born March 29, 1926, in Waterloo. He passed away October 30, 2006, in Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of 80 years, seven months and one day.

On December 22, 1945, in Waterloo, he was united in marriage to LaVonne "Bonnie" Nemmers. and to this union four children were born. They renewed their marriage vows on September 18, 1950, at St. Patrick's Rectory in Cedar Falls.

Don attended country schools in Black Hawk County and Janesville School. He worked for 20 years at Rasmussen Chevrolet in Cedar Falls as a service manager, and at Burdette Buick and Mark Gill Buick in Waterloo before retiring in 1990. He and LaVonne moved to Camdenton, Missouri in August 1997. He enjoyed living at the Lake of the Ozarks, fishing and taking rides in his pontoon boat.

He was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Church in Cedar Falls and most recently a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton, Missouri.

Don will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. We will celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for those that knew and loved him.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bonnie of the home; a son, Gary Wallace and wife Diane of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Candi Smith and husband Larry of Voorhies, Diana Sutherland and husband Dan of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, and Judy Albright and husband Floyd of Janesville; eight grandchildren, Jesse Luck-Smith and wife Ly of Olathe, Kansas, Dana Cheese and husband David of St. Charles, Missouri, Dustin Sutherland of Eldon, Missouri, Sheli McBride of Voorhies, Ryan, Rachelle and Renee Wallace, all of Cedar Falls, and Jason Grandon of Janesville; six great-grandchildren, JJ and Noah Luck-Smith, Joel and Zack Davis and Carson and Kierstyn Cheese; a brother, Virgil Wallace of Waterloo; a sister, Dolores Bartling of Cedar Falls; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clifford Wallace, and his wife Virginia; a half brother, Frank Wallace; a half sister, Virginia Kern; a sister-in-law, Geneva Wallace; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Bartling.

Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006, in St. Patrick's Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Burial will be in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the family.
