CEDAR FALLS - Betty Coraland Platt, 81, of Western Home Communities, formerly of 1806 Lilac Lane, died Saturday, Oct. 28, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

She was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Waterloo, daughter of William Albert and Hazel Christine Fouts Smith. She married Robert Platt on Aug. 21, 1948, in Waterloo.

She graduated from Gates Business College, Waterloo, and had been bookkeeper for Jim Lind Service Station, retiring in 1992.

Survived by: her husband; two daughters, Robbi (Stephen) Sullivan of Cedar Falls and Karen (Jim) Troxel of Little Rock, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Allison, Patrick, Jennifer, David, Michael and Michelle; four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Christopher, Argentina and Amber; three brothers, William (Caryl) Smith and Richard (Peggy) Smith, both of Waterloo, and Daniel Smith of Houston; and two sisters, Connie Tarr of Porterville, Calif., and Karla (Jim) Pike of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Chuck and Victor; and three sisters, Mary Smith, Marie Wheelock and Delores, in infancy.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Evangelical Free Church, with inurnment in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Alternatives Crisis Pregnancy Center.
