EVANSDALE - Carl F. "Sonny" Deeds, 79, of Evansdale, died Thursday, Jan. 5, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Waterloo, son of Carl and Evelyn Nagle Deeds. He married Marilyn Lobeck Feb. 7, 1953, at Trinity American Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

He retired from John Deere after more than 30 years of service.

Survived by his wife; a son, Tim (Kay) of La Porte City; a daughter, Dawn Wilson of New Melle, Mo.; six grandchildren, Christopher (Dawn), Danielle (Darron), Benjamin, Sarah (Trent), Nicholas and Matthew; eight great-grandchildren, Kyele, Taylor, Desiree, Collin, Chloe, Chase, Claire and Bradyn; three brothers, Richard (Sandy) of Manns Choice, Pa., Donald (Peggy) of Atkins and David (Carole) of Cedar Falls; and a sister, Betty (Tom) Kies of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Deeds.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, and will continue for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

He enjoyed gardening, reading, music, cooking and baking. Carl loved watching old movies and wrestling. He was always on the go and enjoyed riding his moped. Carl will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
