WATERLOO - Phyllis Jean Shoars Dvorak, 78, of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Delmar Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Overland Park of natural causes.

She was born March 18, 1933, in Osage, daughter of Smith Lester and Grace Edith Lewis Shoars. She married Donald C. "Cookie" Dvorak Feb. 25, 1950, in Cresco. He died Aug. 1, 1999.

Phyllis enjoyed cross-stitching, playing cards, dancing, socializing and wintering in Texas. She devoted her life to her family as a homemaker.

Survived by three sons, Douglas (Cheryl) of Overland Park, Terrance (Susie) of Norco, Calif., and Gregory (Bonnie) of Schertz, Texas; a daughter, LaDonna (David) Noelting of Lansing; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
