WATERLOO - Doris Jensen Blue, 82, of Friendship Village, died there Sunday, Dec. 25.

She was born March 6, 1929, in Des Moines, daughter of George B. and Mae E. DeWitt Jensen. She married Donald H. Blue on May 21, 1955, in Des Moines. He died Nov. 27, 1986.

Mrs. Blue graduated from Des Moines North High School in 1947 and received her bachelor's degree from Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla., in 1951. She taught for the Waterloo Community School District for 19 years at West High School, Edison Elementary, and Hoover Middle School, retiring in 1971. She was the tennis pro at Breezy Point Resort, Pequot Lakes, Minn., from 1974 to 1988. She was inducted into the Iowa Tennis Hall of Fame in 1975 and the Des Moines North High School Hall of Fame in 1993.

Survived by a son, Dr. Michael S. (Patricia) Blue of Cannon Falls, Minn.; three grandchildren, Maya, Hannah and Emma Blue; and a great-grandchild, Lennon Fetterly.

Preceded in death by her parents; two granddaughters, Sarah and Leah Blue; two brothers, Robert and Homer Jensen; and a sister, Ann Barbour.

Private family graveside Services: will take place at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Locke Funeral Home assisted the family.
