CEDAR FALLS - George Alton Dunkelberg, 74, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Dec. 26, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born Oct. 24, 1937, in Waterloo, son of Floyd and M. Celeste Armstrong Dunkelberg. He married Nancy Rogers on Dec. 31, 1960, at Faith Wesleyan Church, Cedar Falls.

Mr. Dunkelberg was a graduate of Waterloo East High School and attended both Creighton and Drake University. He was a salesman for AAA Motor Club and was a member of First Christian Church. He also was a member and past president of both Mended Hearts Inc. and Cedar Valley Emergency Volunteers.

George enjoyed his family as well as fishing and canoeing.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Jeanne (Rob) Volgenau, of Allegany, N.Y.; three grandsons, Ronald (Courteney), Trevor and Keith (Maryelle Wise) Boenig; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob (Jan) Smith of Davenport.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Geoffrey.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, with burial at Hillside Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home & Cremation Service, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
