WATERLOO, IOWA — Mary H. Stech, 98, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

She was born January 11, 1913, in Hamilton County, daughter of Alvin C. and S. Christianne Davis Henderson. She married Glenn S. Stech Oct. 11, 1936, in Iowa Falls,. He died July 10, 1990.

Mrs. Stech graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1930, where she played running center on the State tournament basketball team, and from Gates Business College in 1933.

She was an office secretary at Rath Packing Co. for several years, the bookkeeper for Stech’s DX, and the office manager at Black Hawk-Grundy Mental Health Center until retiring in 1974. She then worked as financial secretary at First Baptist Church. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survived by a daughter, Nancy S. (Dennis) Stull of Bluffton, S.C.; a son: Glenn (Lynae) of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Traci (Scott) Semptimphelter, Shane (Heather) Stech, Christian (Candace Cyphert) Stull and Megan (Jeremy) Riel; seven great-grandchildren, Nick, Graci and Cross Semptimphelter, Dylan and Brandon Stech, Julianne and Colton Riel.

Preceded in death by her husband; five sisters, Ethel Ferguson, Grace Ferguson, Ella Jensen, Fern Krall and Vira Webber.

Services: 11 a.m. at Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Waterloo, preceded by burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
