Richard E. "Dick" Main passed away on Dec. 16, 2011, in Bonita Springs, Fla.

Dick was born in 1932 in Delaware, Ohio, to Leland and Vera Main, and spent his youth in Zanesville, Ohio. Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Ohio University.

He married Dorothy Whitford in 1960 and spent 35 wonderful years together before she preceded him in death.

He spent most of his working career in Waterloo as a manager with Sears Credit and later with the water utility. Dick retired to Florida in 1996 and enjoyed being with friends, reading, craftwork and the weather. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waterloo and Bonita Springs.

Always quick with a smile and chuckle, he will be missed by his surviving daughter Sarah in Colorado; and son Bruce, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and grandson McKinnon, all in Michigan, and numerous friends in many places.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Waterloo, on Jan. 14, 2012, at 10:30 a.m.
