WATERLOO - Joan Carrol Weed Kriz, 69, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, Dec. 13, of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 1, 1942, in Waterloo, daughter of Charles Weed and Shirley and Harold Bravender. She married Max Kriz on June 10, 1961, at Grace Methodist Church, Waterloo.

Mrs. Kriz graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1960. She worked for Waterloo Community Schools Administration in several departments for more than 31 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Jeff C. (Lisa) of Waterloo and Michael A. (Amy) of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Joshua, Chad, Brittni, Miranda and Patrick Kriz; her mother of Waterloo; three brothers, Robert C. Weed of Britt, Craig (Valerie) Bravender of Waterloo and Dan (Karen) Bravender of Nampa, Idaho; two sisters, Renee (Tom) Lloyd and Candy (Jim) Hundley, both of Waverly; a niece, Dawn Weed of South Haven, Minn.; a nephew, Jeremy Weed of Clearwater, Minn.; and other nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her fathers.

Private family services: will be held, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the family in lieu of flowers.
