CEDAR FALLS - Norman Wayne Kirby, 84, of Alamo, Texas, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday Dec. 6, at Life Care Hospital, McAllen, Texas.

He was born Oct. 22, 1927, on a farm near Liberty, Mo., son of Wayne and Johanna Koppers Kirby. He married Jane Humphrey on May 27, 1949, and they later divorced.

Mr. Kirby graduated from Liberty High School in 1946, then served in the U.S. Army in Japan. After working with his father in an excavating business, he decided to become a long-distance truck driver for Navajo Freight Lines. He drove for several other trucking companies prior to retirement in 1989.

Survived by three daughters, Connie (Dale) Jackson of Holt, Mo., Linda Miller of Kansas City, Mo., and Lea Ann (John) Soto of Liberty; a son, Kenneth of Liberty; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister, Ann Coxey.

Celebration of Life services: 2 p.m. Friday at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, Liberty, preceded by an hour of visitation. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Liberty.
