WATERLOO - Leone G. Stockdale, 91, of Rockwell, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, Dec. 2, at Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

She was born June 1, 1920, in Cresco, daughter of Claude and Bertha Specht Essen. She married Lester Anderson in 1940, and they later divorced.

She graduated from rural schools. She worked in Cresco area restaurants for 30 years, and was well-known for her pastries, pies and homemade soups. She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and belonged to the Ruth Circle.

Survived by two sons, Ronald W. (Judy) Anderson of Waterloo and Arnie (Brenda) of Dysart; two daughters, Carol J. (Dick) of Waterloo and Bonnie J. (Denny) Krause of Rockwell; nine grandchildren, Brian Holmes, Kimberly and Ronnie Anderson, Sara Lampson, Jason, Jeremy, and Dion Cody, and Anthony and Brian Stockdale; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Essen of Grundy Center.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell Essen of Grundy Center and Kenneth Essen of Cresco; a sister, Wanda Dewey of Garwin; a grandson, Bradley Holmes; and a granddaughter, Cyndy Reagan.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial at 1:45 p.m. in New Oregon Cemetery, rural Cresco. Public visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Leone's hobbies included sewing, quilting, rug-making, dancing, old time country music and playing cards.
