WATERLOO - Achilles "Archie" Christos Parigoras, 75, of Waterloo, died Friday, Dec. 2, at Covenant Medical Center from complications of a brain injury.

He was born Oct. 19, 1936, in Tigani, Greece, on the Island of Samos, son of Demetrios and Stamatia Parigoras. He married Keithlyn Barbette Kischer Sept. 15, 1984, at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls.

He graduated from East Waterloo High School in 1958, and was a chef in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Sam Houston, Texas from 1958-60. Mr. Parigoras was a chef at Andy's in Waterloo, where he was named "Waterloo's Favorite Bartender", was employed at Titus Manufacturing, and was a public safety officer at UNI, where he sustained a brain injury while on duty Thanksgiving Day 1992.

Survived by four nephews, Kyle and Kale Larson, Layne Browne, and Jude Kischer; eight nieces, and Rowan Kischer, Dayna Browne-Holm, Melanie Browne-Gylling, Kyra, Nora and Amelia Kischer-Browne, and Claire and Scarlett Kischer; his wife; his father-in-law, Kent Kischer of Waterloo; two sisters-in-law, Karlene (David) Kischer-Browne of Waterloo and Kim (Keith) Kischer-Larson of Cedar Falls; a brother-in-law, Bivan (Leslie) Kischer of Highland Park, Ill.; his uncle, Joe Sprio of Waterloo; and three aunts, Milly Randall-Multhauf and Rosie Chrasta, both of Waterloo, and Frances Neith of Clayton, Calif.

Preceded in death by two brothers, John and Michael; three sisters, Helen, Elizabeth and Maria; and his aunt and uncle Alfonsa and James Parigoras, whom he was raised by.

Services will be held at Faith Baptist Church, Hudson, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Public visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, and will continue for an hour before services Monday at the church. Military rites conducted by Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion and Waterloo Post 1623 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
