Donna Lee Monat, 52, of St. Thomas, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at her home. She was born Dec. 14, 1958, in Waterloo, Iowa, a daughter of Donald and Evelyn Heinen Wagner, both deceased. She was a graduate of Don Bosco Catholic High School in Gilbertville, Iowa, and earned an associate's degree in accounting from Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa.
On Feb. 14, 1982, Donna was united in marriage at the Immaculate Conception Church in Gilbertville, Iowa, to Thomas Monat, who preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2009.
Donna worked for the United States Postal Service in Columbia, Mo., as a mail sorter. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas, Mo. Donna enjoyed reading, crocheting, fishing, canning, gardening and working puzzles.
She is survived by three children: Chris Monat of Ashland, Mo., Forrest Monat of St. Thomas, Mo., Janice Monat of Jefferson City, Mo.; six sisters: Pat Stirm and husband Ken of Port Charlotte, Fla., Jean Hayden and husband Mark of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Carol Lutgen of Gilbertville, Iowa, Lynette Frost and husband Gary of La Porte City, Iowa, Tina Morales and husband Dave of Waterloo, Iowa, Kim Cantrell and husband Rev. L. Brent Cantrell of Waterloo, Iowa; and three brothers: Bill Schmit and wife Bert of Aurora, Colo., Dick Schmit and wife Anita of Elk Run Heights, Iowa, Jerry Wagner and wife Cindy of Evansdale, Iowa.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at the Central Christian Church, 3475 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, Iowa.
