WATERLOO - John Edward Brandenburg, 90, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Nov. 17, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a short illness.

He was born April 23, 1921, in Baltimore, son of Charles and Martha Brawner Brandenburg. He married Anna Frances White Oct. 27, 1945.

Mr. Brandenburg was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed with Martin Marietta Corp. in the Aerospace field, retiring after 46 years.

Survived by his wife; a son, John Robert of Waterloo; four daughters, Nancy Davenport of Chatsworth, Ga., Paula (Mel) Nordentoft and Sharon (Steve) Nordentoft, both of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Janet (Tom) Nichols of Evansdale; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. C. L. (Elizabeth) of Rising Sun, Md., and James (Wilma) of Parkville, Md.; and three sisters, Helen Bullington of Rockville, Md., Gerry Baumgardner of Savannah, Ga., and Evelyn (James) Ford of Wilmington, Del.

Preceded in death by a brother, Paul; two brothers-in-law, Elzie Bullington and John Baumgardner; and two sons-in-law, Abern Davenport and Clair Slick.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where full military rites will be conducted by Evansdale Amvets Post 31, Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation will be held for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

John will be remembered as one who always had a smile on his face and kind words to say. He was an avid baseball, Nascar and football fan. Most of all, John adored his wife and family.
