WATERLOO - John E. Redding, 62, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Nov. 17, at home after a long illness.

He was born Jan. 1, 1949, in Waterloo, son of Clifford and Merle Flaherty Redding.

He graduated from Columbus High School in 1967. He received bachelor's degrees in business in 1979, and in accounting in 1987, both from UNI. He was a licensed public account with the IRS in 1989, operated John Redding LPA EA on Falls Avenue, and taught at Upper Iowa University for several years. Mr. Redding also was the dean of finance and taught at the Business Institute.

Survived by a brother, Daniel (Ranele Kolthoff) of Waterloo; a niece, Shelley (Kevin) Rose of Waterloo; a nephew, Dr. Justin Redding of Seattle; and his beloved dog, Hank.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Marie.

Memorial services following cremation, at 2 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home, with inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be held for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.
