WATERLOO - LaVern N. "Red" Droste, 85, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Nov. 13, at Rosewood Estate of Friendship Village of natural causes.

He was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Tripoli, son of Leo and Edna Lahmann Droste. He married Eleanor "June" Graham on May 20, 1944, in Waterloo. She died March 31, 2007.

Mr Droste owned a number of local businesses including Red's Auto, Woodland Terrace Mobile Home Park, and Red's CB and The Sound Room for over 40 years.

Survived by a son, Steve (Roxy) of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Pam Droste of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Stewart (Danielle) Droste and Tyler Droste, both of Waterloo, Brad (Jean) Droste of Urbana and Missy Shelton of Cedar Falls; six great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Cameron Droste, Emily and Katie Droste and Dylan and Alyson Shelton; two sisters, Mary (Ralph) Hammond of Vancouver, Wash., and Sharon Droste of Waterloo; two brothers, Jim (Connie) and Chuck (Diann), both of Waterloo; and longtime business partner, Dave Graham.

Preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rich; and two sisters, Jeanette Ladage and JoAnn Boeckmann.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Allen Hospice.
