Rhoda M. Penticoff of Littleton, Colorado, formally of Waterloo, Iowa, died on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at the Centura Adventist Hospital of natural causes.

Rhoda was born on July 9, 1917, in Dumont, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob W. and Lola M. (Boots) Kephart. She was baptized on March 29, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, and confirmed her faith on June 6, 1971, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Rhoda attended schools in Chapin, Meservey and Hampton, Iowa, then helped care for her ailing mother.

On January 17, 1934, Rhoda was united in marriage to Warren D. Penticoff at the Congregational Church in Hampton, Iowa. The couple made their home in Hampton until the early 1940's when they moved to San Leandro, California. In 1946, the couple moved back to Iowa and lived in Waterloo. Rhoda was a homemaker and also worked for Allen Memorial Hospital first as a nurse's aid in the nursing home area then worked in the central supply area. In 1974 the couple retired and started spending their winters in Texas. Warren died on June 13, 1985. Rhoda moved to the Camlot Apartments, Waterloo in 1988.

Rhoda was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and making crafts.

Rhoda is survived by one son and his wife, Ralph & Martha Penticoff of Texas, 5 daughters and their husbands, Patricia & Ken Larrabee of Florida, Virginia & Dino Galli, Illinois, Sharon & Gerald McAllister of Colorado, Christal & Jerry Meester of Colorado, and Marie Schuler of Colorado; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren; her daughter, Carma Marsh; an infant daughter (Lola Marie); an infant grandson, (David Galli); 5 brothers, Carl, Erwin, Clayton, Ray and Jake ''Bud'' Kephart; and one sister, Maybelle Stayner-Boring.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2002, at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo, 1024 W 8th Street, with Pastor Randolph W. McHone officiating. Burial will be held in the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until services at the Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial fund to be established at a later date. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of services. 352-1187.
