CEDAR FALLS - Anita A. Aries, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Oct. 24, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

She was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Waucoma, daughter of Francis and Loretta Kruse Murphy. She married Russell I. Aries on June 2, 1947, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death July 9, 1996.

Mrs. Aries was a 1945 graduate of Decorah High School and worked in the cafeteria at Peet Junior High School and the Cedar Falls Woman's Club for many years. She was past president of the American Legion Post 138 Auxiliary, past secretary-treasurer of the Iowa State 42nd Rainbow Division Auxiliary, a life member of Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 Auxiliary and was a charter member of the Cedar Falls Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 4074 Auxiliary.

Survived by three daughters, Marilyn Fletcher of Spring Hill, Fla., Charlotte (Larry) Shock of Buckingham and Phyllis Holmes of Cedar Falls; two sons, Charles (Bobette) and Steven (Teresa), both of Cedar Falls; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis (Audrey) Murphy Jr. of Waterloo; two sisters, Rosetta Haugen of Gladbrook and Geraldine (Ray) Wester of Independence; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Murphy of Rockford, Ill.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, LaVerne Murphy.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. vigil and rosary service. Visitation also for an hour before services Friday at the church.

A memorial fund will be established.
