WATERLOO - Cecelia H. Simon, 91, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 23, at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born June 22, 1920, in Aberdeen, S.D., daughter of George and Mary Krebsbach Matheis. She married Ralph Simon on May 15, 1945, in Stacyville. He died July 4, 1996.

Mrs. Simon was employed in the cafeteria of St. Edward's School for many years.

Survived by two daughters, Sue (Bob) Schuette of Marion and Mary Lou (Jim) Seeley of Charlotte, N.C.; four sons, Mike (Barb) of Smithville, Mo., and Pat (Dede) Sr., Tom and Tim, all of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren, Keith (Mary) and Jeremy (Carrie) Denton, Patrick Jr. (Tracey), Josh (Emily) and Nick (Kristie) Simon, Kristin (Doug) Goedken, Heidi (Justin) Kuecker, Kim (Mike) Nelson, Stephanie (Adam) Jones and Amanda and John Seeley; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Genevieve Medgaarden of Austin, Minn.; and a brother, Herman Matheis of Moorestown, N.J.

Preceded in death by two sons, Kenny and Jon; four sisters, Veronica and Dorothy Matheis and Christina Mullenbach and Marcella Schrandt; and a brother, Joe Matheis.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to New Melleray Abbey, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the family.
