EVANSDALE - Arlene Clara Kohl, 97, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Evansdale, died Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center, Cedar Falls, of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 18, 1914, in a farmhouse outside of Waterloo, daughter of Earl and Katherine Ahrends Griffith. She married Erven Kohl on May 22, 1937, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died June 7, 1981.

Mrs. Kohl graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1932. She was employed as an office manager for Remington-Sperry-Rand, Waterloo, from 1934 to 1960, and was a bookkeeper at Rath Packing Co. from 1964 to 1974, when she retired. She was a member of First Reformed Church, Evansdale.

Survived by a son, William (Sherry) of Marion; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Karen K. Spry; and a brother, William Griffith.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church, Evansdale, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
