[Waterloo Courier, Monday, September 19, 2011]

WATERLOO - Frank E. Eagle of Waterloo passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at the Allison Care Center, Allison. Frank was born to William Eugene Eagle and Lila Mary (Moody) Eagle on June 7, 1921, at home in Waterloo. He attended public school in Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo East High School.

Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. On Dec. 12, 1942, he married Darlene V. Shook at Fort Francis Warren Chapel, Cheyenne, Wyo. She died July 20, 2010.

He retired from his beloved John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as an inspector after 38 years of employment. He was an extremely proud employee.

He is survived by one son, Steven E. Eagle of Marquette, and one daughter, Tanya L. Crowe and husband Gene M. Crowe of Cedar Falls. Also six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren (who were each special to him) and a multitude of friends. He knew no strangers, loving each person he met equally. We will each miss his charismatic style of life.

He is preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

The memorial service will be held at Nazareth Lutheran Church (27th at Main Street) in the chapel on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 1:30 p.m. You are invited to greet his family one hour prior to service.

Please direct memorials to Nazareth Lutheran Church, Christian Crusaders or Cedar Valley Hospice.

His favorites in life were camping, hunting, fishing, card playing, dancing, singing around the piano, meeting folks, loving his family and serving his church. He taught us so much! What a guy! It's time to celebrate his victory!
