OLD RESIDENT PASSED AWAY AT
McDERMOTT HOME THURSDAY NIGHT

Mrs. Margaret McDermott died at 10:15 o'clock Thursday night at the home of her son, M. T. McDermott, 116 Lafayette Street. Paralysis caused her death, the disease having afflicted her about one week ago.

Mrs. McDermott was a resident of Waterloo for 36 years, having moved here with her family in 1870. Her husband died five years later and for some time past she has been making her home with her son. She was an ardent member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church since she came to Waterloo and always took an active interest in church affairs until her health was impaired by age.

Deceased was born in County Kerry, Ireland, in 1833. She came to America when a young girl and moved to this city in 1870.

She leaves six children as follows: Mrs. J. F. Fenner, Los Angeles; Mrs. Katharine Moriarity and Mrs. E. D. Bradley, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Mrs. L. H. Truesdell, Marion; J. F. McDermott, Willow Springs, Mo; and M. T. McDermott, Waterloo.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 o'clock Monday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, conducted by the Reverend Father Mark Cooney. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery. All the children are here with the exception of Mrs. Fenner, who lives in Los Angeles.

Note: Her gravestone on Find A Grave has the inscription "Aged 72 years, 11 months and 0 days". Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Waterloo.
