Jack D. Powell, Jr., 52, died of cancer on Friday, December 21, 2007, at his home in Cedar Falls. He was born March 9, 1955 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Jack D. Powell, Sr. and Beverly (Bosley) Powell.

Jack married Barbara Buls on February 10, 1973 in Waterloo. He was employed at John Deere & Company for thirty years, retiring in October of 2006.

Survivors include his wife, Barb, of Cedar Falls; two sons, David (Andrea) Powell of Readlyn, Iowa and Brian (Jennifer Young) Powell of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Amy Powell, of Cedar Falls; four grandsons, Andruw, Ayden, Noah and Bryce; three brothers, Virgil (Bette) Powell of Waterloo, James “Skip” Powell of Waterloo and Rick (Kerrie) Powell of Evansdale; a sister, Kathy Kezar, of Sheffield, Iowa; mother and father-in-law, Lloyd & Jane Buls, of Waterloo; sister-in-law, Theresa Harbaugh, of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Services will be 10:30 am Monday, December 24, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with interment at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Visitation will be 2—6:00 pm Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before service at the church. A memorial fund will be established at a later date.
