CEDAR FALLS - Lawrence W. "Larry" Bireline, 90, of Cedar Falls, died at home Monday, June 26, 2006.

He was born Jan. 20, 1916, near Adair, son of Fred and Mary Winkelmann Bireline. He married Marian F. Wood on Nov. 20, 1948, in Battle Creek.

Mr. Bireline graduated from Adair High School in 1934. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European and Pacific theaters. He was employed as a brakeman for the Illinois Central Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1975.

Survivors include his wife; and a nephew, Joe Bireline of Adair.

Preceded in death by a brother and six sisters.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at College Hill Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Military flag-folding rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AmVets Post 49. Public visitation 4 to 6 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church or charity of donor's choice.
