Michael D. “Mike” Missel, 47, of Mt. Auburn, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Covenant Medical Center from a five year battle with lung cancer. He was born June 14, 1961 in Waterloo the son of James and Jo Ann Gitzy Missel. He married Donna Elaine Cross on December 2, 2000 in La Porte City.

Mike worked as a mechanic for Scotland Yard Lawn Service in Waterloo for 11 years. He also owned and operated Mike’s Auto Repair out of his home in Mt. Auburn. He was a member of AA and had received his 20 year medallion in September of 2008. He enjoyed camping, fishing, jet skiing, and nostalgia cars. He will be remembered for his love as a husband, brother, father and friend.

Survived by his wife, Donna of Mt. Auburn; one son, Johnathan Missel of Waterloo; one brother, James (Shelly) Missel of Waterloo; two sisters, Julie (Richard Lamb) Missel of Waterloo and Susan (Mike Copeland) Missel of Poy Sippi, WI.

Preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Kearns, Huisman – Schumacher Chapel on Kimball with family receiving friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
