WATERLOO - Donald LeRoy Dilley, 84, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, at his home after a short illness.

He was born July 26, 1927, on the family farm in Bremer County, son of Lee and Sophie Bartels Dilley.

Mr. Dilley farmed with his brother, Lloyd "Bud" on the family farm, retiring in 2004. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he spent 16 months in Germany as a technical Sergeant tank commander with the 2nd Armored Division.

Survived by a niece, Patricia Bergman of Maple Grove, Minn.; and a special friend, Jean Waschkat of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Dilley and Arlene McCue; and two brothers, Lloyd "Bud" and Robert in infancy.

Private family inurnment: in Freemont Cemetery, near Tripoli. Per his wishes, there will be no services or visitation. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, Waterloo, is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Allen Hospital School of Nursing.
