WATERLOO - Henry Wallican Jr., 50, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 4, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born March 25, 1961, in Iowa City, son of Henry Sr. and Senora Wright Wallican. He married Bridget Blanding in 1991 in Dallas, and they later divorced.

Mr. Wallican was a 1979 graduate of Waterloo East High School and attended Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, for a year, and Regis College, Denver, Colo., for three years. He was a production worker for Decker Foods in Texas for more than 20 years and was later employed at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works. He served in the U.S. Army from 1983-86 and was a former member of Payne Memorial AME Church.

Survived by his parents of Waterloo; a daughter, Joselyn (Atilano) Gonzales of Dallas; two sons, Henry III and Kevin, both of Dallas; three grandchildren; three sisters Audrey (Riley) Wallican-Green, Gail Wallican-VanArsdale and Licentiate Vera Wallican, all of Waterloo; a brother, Rodney (Roshanda) of Fort Worth, Texas; and paternal grandparents, Wilbert and Willie Ree Wadlington of Chicago.

Preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Sanders Sr. and Rillie B. Wright; paternal grandparents, Willie Mack and Lillian Thompson; and a brother, Jeffrey.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Payne Memorial AME Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1623 and American Legion Post 138. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and an hour prior to services Saturday, all at the church. Greer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
