WATERLOO - Marvin E. Lampman, 94, of Friendship Village Retirement Center, died there Monday, Aug. 29.

He was born June 15, 1917, in Sisseton, S.D., son of Earl and Winifred Plant Lampman. He married Alberta M. Bruner on March 22, 1946, in Waterloo.

Mr. Lampman graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1938 and attended Hawkeye Community College for blueprint reading. He was employed with John Deere Waterloo Works for 40 years, retiring from the Westfield Avenue site in 1980. He also was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Charles M. (Nancy) of Apollo Beach, Fla., and Steven D. (Amy) of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Amy M. (Mark) Loiselle, Julie A. (Scott) Stearsman, Brian S. Lampman and Shelly A. (Thomas) Frein; four great-grandsons, Alexander Schremser, Ryan Stearsman, Caden Loiselle and Samuel Stearsman.

Preceded in death by his parents

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military rites by Waterloo American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Friendship Village Auxiliary.
