CEDAR FALLS - Virginia Maxine Hilton Dix, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Aug. 25, at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

She was born June 22, 1922, in Waterloo, daughter of Harry and Laura Steward Hilton. She married Harold H. Dix on May 11, 1947. He died Nov. 21, 1994.

Mrs. Dix graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1940. She worked at Bain Dental Lab, Paramount Drug and was a bookkeeper at Construction Machinery. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Survived by a son, Terry (Pam) of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a daughter, Jody Dix of Toronto, Canada; and a grandson, Michael of Thousand Oaks.

Preceded in death by six brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Ronald, Marvin, Harry Jr. and Vern Hilton; and two sisters, Lucille Saak and Diane Hilton in infancy.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at NewAldaya Lifescapes Chapel, Cedar Falls, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to New Aldaya Lifescapes.

Virginia loved her children, and her grandson, Michael, was the love of her life. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and making dolls that she gave as gifts to those she loved. Virginia was an avid shopper who was always looking for the ultimate bargain. She loved her flowers, but hated weeding them, and she especially enjoyed trips to Branson, Mo., in her later years.
