WATERLOO - Josephine E. "Jo" Royer, 97, of Lakeview Lodge, died there Sunday, Aug. 28.

She was born July 22, 1914, in Black Hawk County, daughter of Mathias and Anna Terns Kettman. She married Wayne Royer on Nov. 28, 1935, in Gilbertville. He died March 23, 1990.

Survived by two daughters, Carolyn (Merlin) Bauer of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Jane (Dick) Mayer of Waterloo; two sons, Joe (Bev) of Cedar Falls and Tom (Kay) of Marietta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Breitbach of Gilbertville.

Preceded in death by four brothers, Orville, Joseph, Jerome and Louis Kettman; and a sister, Laura Clough.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Columbus High School or Cedar Valley Catholic Schools.

Jo and Wayne enjoyed antiquing, and she was always ready for a game of bridge.
