CEDAR FALLS - Richard K. Boyer, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born July 19, 1931, in Waterloo, son of Floyd Owen and Dorothy Elliott Boyer. He married Carol R. Gille Sept. 2, 1961. She died Oct. 26, 2007.

Mr. Boyer served with the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War from 1951-55. He was employed by Mid-American Energy, formerly Iowa Public Service Co., as a welder for 35 years.

Survived by a son, Richard K. II of DeWitt; two daughters, Victoria (Scott) Wymore of Cedar Falls and Laurie (Joe) Reincheld of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother, Frank; and a sister, Drucella Hetherton.

Memorial service: for Carol and Richard Boyer will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls. Burial will be at a later date. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, Waterloo, an Overton Family Service, is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and gunsmithing and was a lifetime member of the NRA.
