WATERLOO - Jerry Cook, 66, of Waterloo, died Monday, Aug. 22, at Covenant Medical Center of throat cancer.

He was born Dec. 11, 1944, in Whittier, Calif., son of Gilbert and Mildred Bixby Cook. He married Sonya Annette June 6, 1964, in Waterloo. They later divorced. He married Doreen Towsley Cook July 26, 1996, in Marquette.

Mr. Cook served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 30 years, retiring in 1993 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a project manager at John Deere for 35 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Florida Laryngectomy Association, John Deere Supervisors Club and various military organizations.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Susan (Tim) Moses and Shannon (Mark) Melcher, all of Waterloo; two stepsons, Eric (Carrie) Cunningham of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Tim Cunningham of Waterloo; and four grandchildren, Andrew, Benjamin and Jacob Melcher, and Emily Wolterman.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Wolterman; two brothers, Richard and Gilbert Cook Jr.; and a sister, Gvonne Christians.

Memorial services: 11:30 a.m. Friday at Heartland Vineyard Church, with private family graveside services at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball. The casket will be closed.
